Whether your discs are finalised or not, we can help you recover your videos and preserve them for the future.

Our Mini DVD Transfer Pricing

We believe in simple, transparent pricing for our customers.

  • €5.00 per Mini DVD Disc

  • Formats: Saved as Original Quality MPEG2 or High-Quality MP4 (ideal for phones, tablets, and smart TVs).

  • Storage: We can save your files to a USB stick, external hard drive, or provide a secure digital download link.

Why Transfer Your Camcorder Discs?

Mini DVDs were a popular way to record home movies in the 2000s, but they come with several risks today:

  1. Hardware Obsolescence: DVD camcorders and players are becoming rare and difficult to repair.

  2. Disc Rot & Scratches: These small discs are fragile. Over time, the reflective layer can degrade, making the footage unreadable.

  3. The “Unfinalised” Problem: Many people forgot to “finalise” their discs in the camera. This often means the disc won’t play in a standard DVD player. We can often recover footage from these unfinalised discs.

Technical Details: MPEG2 vs. MP4

When we transfer your discs, we offer two main file options:

  • MPEG2 (Original Quality): This is the exact data format stored on your original disc. It is best if you plan to burn new DVDs or want a 1:1 “archive” copy to view on your computer or Smart TV.

  • MP4 (Most Compatible): MP4 files are smaller in size. They are perfect for sharing on WhatsApp, uploading to Social Media, or watching on your laptop and Smart TV.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you recover footage from “unfinalised” Mini DVDs? A: Yes! This is a common problem where the recording session wasn’t “closed” by the original camcorder. While standard DVD players won’t recognize these discs, we use specialised software to bypass the menu structure and extract the raw video files for you.

Q: How much video fits on one Mini DVD? A: Typically, an 8cm Mini DVD holds about 30 minutes of footage in standard play (SP) mode, or up to 60 minutes in long play (LP) mode. Our flat rate of €5 applies regardless of the length of the footage on the disc.

Q: What if my Mini DVD is blank or unreadable? A: We only charge for successful transfers. If we find that a disc is completely blank or too damaged to recover, you won’t be charged the €5 transfer fee for that specific disc.

Q: Will the quality be better than the original disc? A: We transfer the footage in its original native resolution. We ensure the digital transfer is a 1:1 copy.

Q: Can I watch the MP4 files on my Smart TV? A: Absolutely. If we save your files to a USB stick, you can simply plug it into the USB port of most modern Smart TVs, laptops, or gaming consoles to watch your home movies instantly.

Q: How should I label my discs before giving them to you? A: If your discs aren’t already labeled, we will add video recording date if available.
